Office Sharpener
Product detailed description
Office Sharpener is the first product in the Office collection of desk accessories, designed by Natalie Navratilova, winner of the Discovery of the Year category at Czech Grand Design 2024. At first glance, it stands out with its unconventional shape. The robust duralumin body is striking, yet thanks to the material used it is also very light. The sharpener features a visually distinctive DLC surface finish, whose hardness and durability are comparable to diamond. Because of its exceptional properties, this finish is used for tools that operate in the most demanding conditions. The sharpener is intended not only for creative professions. Even in the digital age, architects, planners, and graphic designers will find practical use for it. But it will appeal to anyone who values a cultivated work environment (and the support of Czech design and manufacturing).

Natalie Navratilova is a Czech designer whose work focuses on interior, spatial, and product design. In 2025, she received the Discovery of the Year award at Czech Grand Design 2024 for her Office collection.
This native of Znojmo found her path to design through Designblok. When she first visited it as a teenager, she was captivated by an installation by the Bomma brand. For the minimalist products in her luxury Office desk collection (which includes anthracite rulers, a protractor, a letter opener, and a sharpener), created for the traditional manufacturer Mikov, the UMPRUM product design graduate received the award for Best New Product by a Manufacturer. She has also attracted attention through products for the Czech cookware and kitchenware brand FABINI, where she has worked as a product designer for several years. Her Boldi stainless steel cutlery set received a Red Dot Design Award in the tableware category. In her design work, she strives for harmonious, user-friendly proportions and for the maximum use of production capacities. Author: Petra Cieslar
In 2021, Navratilova completed her master's degree at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, at the Product Design Studio led by Michal Fronek and Jan Nemec, founders of the OLGOJ CHORCHOJ studio. She is interested in interior design, especially architectural details. For this reason, in 2020 and 2021 she worked and gained experience at ORA, an architectural studio focused on original regional architecture.
OFFICE desk accessories collection was created in collaboration with Mikov, the oldest Czech manufacturer of cutlery goods, and after more than three years of development, the pilot series is here. The collection expands the company's portfolio and builds on a tradition in which products with the high added value of skilled handwork play an important role.
Mikov is a globally recognized traditional Czech manufacturer of office equipment and industrial staplers under the Ron brand, as well as a wide range of cutlery products under the Mikov brand. It manufactures its products in Mikulasovice and Lipova and supplies them not only to the Czech Republic and Slovakia, but exports them all over the world.
